Who is Akela?

Akela is the Webelos Scout name for a good leader. Some of the people you may call Akela are your father or mother, your teacher, your den chief, your Cubmaster, or anyone who is a good leader.

Good leaders first learn to follow. That's why the first part of the Law of the Pack asks you to follow. Follow good leaders. Follow Akela.

You help the Pack Go!!!

When you become a Cub Scout, you're a member of a Den and a Cub Scout Pack. You'll help the Pack Go by doing whatever you can to help the Pack run smoothly. By doing your part, you'll help everyone in your Den and Pack get the most out of all their activities.

Help the Pack Go by attending all meetings and following the Leaders. Your Pack will be better in every way because you're in it!

The Pack helps the Cub Scout Grow!

You will "grow" in skills and knowledge while you are a Cub Scout. That is what all Pack leaders want for you. They plan interesting and fun activities to help all Cub Scouts grow. Learning new skills and new ways of doing things will help you prepare for Boy Scouting. That's how the Pack helps you Grow.

The Cub Scout gives Goodwill!

Goodwill means cheerfulness and kindness. You give goodwill by having a cheerful attitude, by being kind in what you say and do, and by looking for ways to help other people. Smile and Help are two Cub Scout words to always remember.

Making a Difference

Camping

From your first Tiger Scout campout to the rugged journeys you might already take deep into the backcountry, camping is Scouting at its best. Learn how to make yourself comfortable outdoors for a night or more, and you’ll be ready for all kinds of BSA adventures.

The long, warm days of summer are perfect for campouts, but don’t put away your tent and camp stove just because cold weather has arrived. Snow can turn familiar countryside into a wintry wilderness just right for overnight trips that might include snowshoeing, skiing, building igloos and tracking animals.

Master the skills needed for camping and you’ll have knowledge to take care of yourself in the outdoors and take care of the outdoors, too.

As an American, I will do my best to-
BE CLEAN in my outdoor manners,
BE CAREFUL with fire,
BE CONSIDERATE in the outdoors,
and
BE CONSERVATION-MINDED.
